The URUGUAY PEN Center publishes below for subscribers and followers, the following
Report prepared by International PEN in an effort to denounce the multiple attacks
suffered by writers committed to truth and freedom of expression.

PEN International report documents 115 cases of writers “facing harassment, detention, violence and even death, all over the world”.
This document is made up of a brief introduction that recognizes the valuable work of writers in authoritarian contexts and the risk they face for exercising their right to free expression and their right to defend it. At the end of this introduction you will find a link that will take you to a PDF with the complete 94-page report that includes the list of the 115 cases that correspond to the year 2022.
Following this link, PEN International presents a global analysis of the situation where it breaks down, region by region, the state of the issue of freedom of expression and the imprisonment or persecution of writers in Africa, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Central Asia, and the Near East.
